Metal oven box for wood stove

2003

Hi,

I made myself an oven box that fits on top of my wood stove.(I made it out of stainless since I had some around the house). I stayed away from galvanized steel. A friend of mine would like a similar box. I don't have enough stainless left to build him a complete box and new stainless is quite expensive. 1/16" 28 x 68 = 118.00 Would you recommend any other sheet metal for this application? (Cold rolled steel etc. or will anything else but, stainless give off a fume at 350-400 degrees.)

Thanks for your time, Sincerely,

Sylvain Cloutier

Hi, Sylvain.

I think I would suggest plaint steel, painted on the outside with high-temperature paint. Good luck.

Hi I am an Australian, living in Thailand and want to construct a metal oven to sit on top of a local charcoal burning BBQ. Your oven was of interest to me. Could you supply a drawing or picture and any advice in regards to construction or materials?

Thank you in advance,
