Model 94 Bluing

I have a Model 94 Win that I am trying to Blue but it will not take the bluing since it is mostly nickel in it. The barrel was no problem but the receiver will not take the blue.I sandblasted it but there was no difference. What should I do to resolve my problem? I hope someone out there can give me an idea.

Tom, if your doing hot bluing, it takes an extra 15 to 20 degrees to blue nickel steel. If your using cold blue, you will have to check different products to find one that will color the nickel steel, but it can be done. The nickel steel is not a coating, but is the metal itself, so it can not be removed. Polish the receiver the way you want it to look when done, and go ahead with your bluing.

Good luck,
