AS PART OF OUR RANGE WE ENGRAVE BRASS PLAQUES FOR A LOCAL UNDERTAKER, AND HE WAS INQUIRING AS TO POSSIBILITY OF 'DULLING DOWN' THE NEW BRASS HE FEELS IT MIGHT EASE THE FAMILY ETC..ETC..(NEW DEATH=NEW PLAQUE)MOST OF OUR SUPPLIERS ARE MORE INCLINED TO THE QUALITY OF THE MATERIAL RATHER THAN ITS POST PRODUCTION STATE
Q1)IS THERE A MATERIAL WHICH MAY BE USED IN THE REPRODUCTION INDUSTRY THAT SERVES THIS PURPOSE OTHER THAN THE STANDARD ENGRAVERS PLATE OR..

If you want an antique look, you might want to look into a small mass finishing system using a dry organic media with an abrasive additive.

Contact any wood finishing trade suppliers for a product called Tourmaline.
It does exactly what you require with low tech needed. the only important feature is total grease free operation - including finger prints. Use with hot water for best results.
