Descale and Pacify our GTAW welded Stainless Steel (316 and 316L) Hydraulic Piping Systems

2002

Dear Sir,

I am the senior QA/QC inspector on a new build programm. We are building two JU2000 Jack-up Rigs.

My question is: Do we need to Descale and Pacify our GTAW welded Stainless Steel (316 & 316L) Hydraulic Piping Systems.

Kindest regards,

Paul H. Nicholas

You definitely need to clean and passivate the welds if you want them to be corrosion resistant.
