Change white gold back to yellow gold?

Can a 25 year old white gold band (it was my mothers) have the plating removed so that it's Yellow gold again? Or is there another durable option to make it yellow gold again? I want to use this band for sentimental reasons... Thanks...

I'm not a jeweler, but afraid white gold is an alloy, your band may be white gold plated onto a cheaper base, or solid white gold, i.e., you'll probably need to get it plated with yellow gold anyway.
