Defects in silver casting/polishing

Q. My production in silver karat has rough surface and tiny porosity in the metal. Although I have tried to use max. pure gold in casting but still the problem exists. In grinding with plastic cones and pyramids of 10 mm size also does not yield any results. So please recommend us 1. casting parameters for furnace & casting. 2. agent for grinding.

Reply soon, thanks,

A. If all manufacturing processes were done properly, there would be no need for any secondary surface profile modification. However, I think you should look into what is happening there first. As for your lack of luck on using plastic media, you did not say what composition of plastic you are using. Most companies make at least 7 versions or compositions of the same size and shape media. If you want the greatest material removal, I suggest you use a coarse zircon composition.

Q. We have a silver casting unit. After casting jewelry when we do shiny finish we see black spots that cannot be removed; please advice reason why these black brownish spots are there.

We do silver plating after that but still after some time those spots will occur.
