Clear anodizing large 5052 parts

2002

I have a large sheet of 5052 aluminum with two bends in it that essentially forms a C shape . (Overall dimension of the flat section is 22"x18" and the C flat sections are about 6" long. Thickness is .118".)

I am going to need to clear anodize a large quantity of these and am concerned with uniformity along the part as well as consistency among a lot of around 50.

I have read some things about architectural anodizing and imagine that they also work with large parts and are very concerned with consistency and uniformity issues. Besides larger tanks, what are the differences process wise that make anodizing for large parts different than anodizing for smaller parts?

simultaneous replies

Size of the power supply, buss bars, anode bars, cathode bars, cathode size and arrangement, rinsing capacity, heaters and cooling on various tanks, hoists, work space and drying capacity for starters.

J,

Your parts really aren't that large, and shouldn't be a problem at all. The problem with some architectural pieces is in the actual extruding process itself, not so much in the anodizing process
