Alloy 2021 anodizable or not

Hello,

My question is : I am making a couple med. instruments out of aluminum. Most of the parts are made from 6061 T6 alloy. Some other parts I planning to make out of 2011 alloy. The question is, both alloys are anodizable? (as I have to have a nice shiney black finish on them).

I appreciate your advise.

Thank you

2000 series alloys are definitely anodizable. We do it in my shop everyday. The real problem comes into play if you wanted to hardcoat anodize this alloy. 2000 Series is a hi copper alloy & needs a special system to successfully hardcoat it.
