Cost hard chrome vs. zinc

The price of hard chrome coating compared with zinc is low or high? What percentage % ?

Thanks,

First of three simultaneous responses--

Hard chrome is much more expensive than zinc. But I'm scratching my head what application both could possibly be suited for. Please tell us what you have in mind, Mario.

Second of three simultaneous responses--

Cannot really compare. cost of zinc depends upon passivation required cost of Hard chrome depends upon thickness, finish, any related operation like grinding etc.

So cannot really compare as one is for corrosion resistance and other for wear resistance.

Still, a wild guess: HC maybe 50- 100 times exp than zinc

Third of three simultaneous responses--

The two processes are not equivalent or comparable and your question reveals that this may be unknown territory for you. People with a background in plating practice would not consider one as a substitute for the other. Both are plating processes but the properties of the deposit, equipment required, toxicity and protection to worker and environment are very different.
