Chemical solution for removal of copper oxide from monel
2002
I am looking for a way to remove the copper oxide formation on a monel (70:30,Cu:Ni) plate. I suspect a carbon layer has also accumulated on the plate because the corrosion is black. Specifically I would like only to soak the plate in a given solution and have the corrosion removed without having to rub the corrosion off. Have tried various baths of sulfuric and nitric acid as well as a sonication process.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
