Anodizing an aluminized coating on a steel acme treaded rod
2002
Hello,
I want to know if it's possible to aluminize a 5/8" diameter, 8 thread per inch, steel acme threaded rod, 12 feet long. If that is possible would it late be possible to hard coat anodize the aluminized coating? Is it possible that you could refer anyone in my area that could perform this kind of operation?
Regards and thanks,

No. plater - Charlotte, North Carolina I have done this process on a plasma sprayed aluminum coating.. and due to the very porous coating, we really saw no benefit in applying the anodizing afterwards, except for dielectric properties. But yes.. It can be done. Marc Green anodizer - Boise, Idaho There are a number of companies that can IVD deposit aluminum on your rod. However, the aluminum coating cannot be anodized. It is too porous. Jim Treglio - scwineryreview.com PVD Consultant & Wine Lover - San Diego, California Try talking to Alumiplate. I don't know if they can handle a 12 foot long rod--that's pretty big. Ted Mooney, P.E. Striving to live Aloha finishing.com - Pine Beach, New Jersey |
