Alternatives to Alocrom
Are there any suitable alternatives for Alocrom 1000?

Alochrom is a proprietary name for a product used for MIL-C-5541 chromate conversion coating of aluminum. An impartial suggestion would be to recommend you consult QPL-81706 [on DLA] which is the "Qualified Products List" for Mil-C-5541.

There is no product called Alochrom on QPL-81706-16, the latest revision. There is Alchrome #2 or Alodine 1000.

The products in England are called Alocrom 1000, and Alocrom 1200, both contain hexavalent chrome, and are distributed by trimite. I too would be interested to hear of any alternatives

If you seek Mil-approved alternatives and are seeking RoHS-compatible trivalent chromates as well, I believe you are limited to TCPs, which are available from Henkel, Luster-On, Metalast and CST-Surtec.
