Plating of SS
Hi friends,
I am interested to know which is the most economical method for guaranteed gold plating. I want to use it for plating hardware items, watches, jewelry. The base metal is SS and Zinc alloy. Is TiN the best way or is there any other more economical way? Moreover which is better PVD or CVD method for TiN plating.

TiN is good stuff, but it's usually only one step in a multi-step process. It is porous, so it won't protect the zinc; the zinc needs to be electroplated first. And while it looks a lot like gold, some people say it's not quite good enough, and they apply a flash of gold plating on top.
