RUST PREVENTIVE OILING/OILING SYSTEM

Dear sir,

We are a leading manufacturer of precision steel tubes in India and exporting world wide. Coating the finished tube with rust preventive oil before shipping is one of the prime requirements in order to avoid any rust on the tubes. We are currently doing this activity by dipping the tube bundle in the oil tank. We would like to know any other efficient and cost effective method of rust preventive oil coating which can be adopted at our end. We are open to all innovative ideas.

Thanks for your time, regards,

I didn't follow whether you are just looking for a more efficient way to transport the tubes to the oil tank or you are looking for a better coating. A zinc or manganese phosphate before the oil dip would be much better, but this would increase the cost, not reduce it.

Dear sir,

Thanks for your reply. We are basically looking for a system which can ensure complete coating of rust preventive oil on the tubes . It may include tube transfer system, oiling method, oil quality etc.

First of two simultaneous responses --

A formal treatment process, including cleaning and phosphating before oil dipping will give a quality coating. As for the handling, hanging the tubing on racks is not that hard and can even be automated. The racks hooks should be slanted from one end to the other so the tubes are inclined rather than horizontal. Oil will sluice out of the low end of the pipes, so make allowance in clearances and deflectors.

Second of two simultaneous responses --

Dear Mr. Sekar,

You ask for a complete process- and plant-setup. I think this goes beyond the purpose of this forum. I advise you to go to the consultants section of this site, where you will find all the help you need.
