Copper Plating Problem

2002

I am currently working at one of the pipe threading companies in Malaysia. We have a copper plating line for coupling (pipe). We never had any problems with the quality of the plating until lately where we found two problems (a) black substance stick to the coupling and (b) not shining as before. I have no idea what are the causes and would be grateful if you can provide me with the solution.

Thank you.

It can either be contamination of the solution or pretreatment related issue.

Have you analyze the black contaminant itself? It might come from the Copper solution or carry over from previous process.. suggested to have online 1.0 micron filtration.

To increase the brightness of Copper you might use some additive available in the market. Continuous carbon filtration is also recommended if necessary.

Hi all,,,,

I think your rochelle salt wasn't enough or else your ratio within anode and cathode not balanced or else your solution is contaminated...or else..your pickling is having a problem...
Check any one of them.
