Zinc chromate
I am director production in galvanized pipe manufacturing company. We are facing one problem after galvanizing. After galvanizing some time we see white rust on the pipe which is rather zinc oxide. I learnt on internet that we may have "zinc chromate" after galvanizing if you can tell me from where I can get this powder and what is process for this zinc chromating is?

Hello, Mr. Ali. Galvanized items that will be painted are usually not chromated. But if they are not to be painted, they sometimes require dipping in a chromate conversion coating to retard white rusting. Traditionally this has been a weak (about 1/2 percent to 2 percent) chromic acid solution with other chemicals as accelerators and stabilizers. I think that companies like Chemetall-Oakite, EPI / Electrochemical Products Inc. [a finishing.com supporting advertiser], and Heatbath could offer chromating processes for your situation.
