E- Nickel plating? How much, .001?

We are a distributor of fasteners . We sell stainless steel and plated fasteners to the agricultural industry. All products are not available in stainless steel, so we are looking for a solution. At the present time we have been advised to use E-Nickel plating ,.001 thickness to provide a corrosion free product. The fasteners that are being plated in E-nickel are submerged in "Hog Manure". Is this Sufficient? Please inform.

Hog manure may be sufficient however you may wish to try a combination of: 10 gallons of coke, coca-cola that is , 10 gallons of hydrogen peroxide, 2 gallons of ammonia, 5 gallons of vinegar in bulk on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , 5 pounds of salt.

Mix well and let the fasteners soak for 1 month.

Stand back. Do not try this in your basement.

have fun. TB

John, I don't know how corrosive hog manure is, but .001" is a lot of electroless nickel, and I strongly doubt that you would want to go heavier. Testing is the only way to know for sure, but the application sounds fine to me.

What do you mean by 'stand back', Trudy?

Our readers should know that it is dangerous to mix either ammonia this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] or hydrogen peroxide with other chemicals, except when you know exactly what you are after and how to do it.

I don't know this mixture to be dangerous because it's out of my field, but a very powerful oxidizing agent like hydrogen peroxide mixed with ammonia sounds like possible trouble.
