Chrome VI free yellow passivation

Chrome VI free passivation on electroplated zinc: With the new European regulations regarding Chrome VI free cars the enquiries are even coming to Africa. My question is as follows: how successful is yellow chrome VI-free passivation in a normal production environment? Articles about the lack of self-healing properties on Cr VI-free are frightening to say the least. A trip to Denmark did not bring the answer. Their response seems to be: tried that, did not work, left it alone. How successful are they? We do not have laboratory conditions and cannot wrap the product in cotton wool! Any help?

Recently developed iridescent passivations based upon Cr III are very good. They withstand corrosion in NSS but their colour is less yellow than the CR VI based chromates. Ask your supplier for the recent developments in this field.

In response to the inquiry regarding a chrome VI replacement...

It is true that there are multiple "solutions" to the issue of passivation without the use of Chrome VI that have not panned out or require exotic methods; however, readers should take heart in knowing that new technology is currently being developed and marketed that as been proven to work on a variety of substrates. This technology can be utilized in the same fashion as most conversion coats. It is based on using other less-toxic metals that have been modified so that they will to behave like chrome VI on the substrate.

Introducing a sealant may be a solution for self-healing nature of Cr3 passivated parts.
And I have a doubt that whenever we are talking Cr3 passivation I think it is not actually Cr6 free, any way there is some ppm of cr6 also there.
Is there any non chrome passivation like Mn,Ti..etc
