Can buffing be replaced by vibro finishing systems?

2002

Sir,

I am a small anodizer in India. I have some components for anodising which are aluminium extrusions. When tried with the vibro finishing systems after emery this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , some pin holes are developed on the surface causing heavy rejection. Only option left is Buffing which is not feasible because of the quantities rising each month. Can someone help?

Regards,

I seriously question if vibratory process is causing your problem. I suspect it is the chemical process. Mechanical mass finishing is an abrasive process that uses pressure of the aggregate and parts to create friction. There is no way pits can occur using this process, unless you are using a chemical additive in this process as well, but again it is unlikely.

You can use kerosin with media and I am sure you will not find any pin holes on the surface.
