Painting brass drawer pulls

I have an old wooden bureau that I painted white to go into my daughter's room. The old brass drawer pulls (10 qty) look terrible. I looked on the internet for new pulls and found that they are more than $15 each. I would rather paint / spray pain

t the existing pulls and use them. What type of paint is best? Do I need an extra step to protect the paint? Thank you for your help.

What did you end up using? I was going to do the same thing and planned on using spray primer, spray paint and clear sealer after I give them a good cleaning in TSP [trisodium phosphate this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] ]. That is what I did with an old iron bed and it worked great.
