Plating on Z.A.M.A.C.

Please advise;

We currently make small wire form products that are electroplated in different finishes such as Nickel, Gilt.

1)Can we use the same electroplating processes to finish our Casted products that are made from Zinc Alloy?

2) How does plating on a Zinc Alloy material hold up as compared to plating on steel or brass wire?

Any comments would be appreciated.

We have been plating copper, nickel, gold, and brass finishes over zmac(z1 rubber mold casting alloy from tekcast in new york) quite successfully.

We have a new cleaner and/or activation solution especially designed for Zamak zinc-die casts. It improves the adhesion of subsequent plating and is not strongly corrosive. This even works in an ultrasonic cleaner.
