Haze

We Currently Powder Coat Heavy Equipment Parts and contuinualy have a Haze problem on the finish. We wipe off the haze and it comes back. What could be causing this?

Hi Jim,

The fact that you can wipe it off and that it comes back may suggest that the problem is within the powder coating formulation. I have seen this problem, or similar, a few times and it has always come down to the powder coating having wax in the formulation.

Check with your powder supplier, waxes can be put into a formulation for many reasons, marr resistance, matting agents, slip etc, but if you can do without it this may solve your problem.

One other thing which may cause this in a dirty oven or contaminated gas supply.

Good luck,
