1.non-silicated soak clean-CWR,2.Alkaline Etch-CWR 3.50% NitricAcid-CWR, 4. Zincate, dilute, 30-45 seconds-CWR, 5. 4 oz/gal Sodium Bicarbonate-CWR, 6. Alkaline Electroless Nickel strike 5 minutes-CWR, 7. Copper plate.
Do not waste your time trying to copper cyanide strike over the zincate.

METAL FINISHING had carried article about use of Ni glycolate strike. It works real good. I have tried it. Ni glycolate was not available in India, and I had to make it from basic chemicals.

Hi there, Anything you learn in this area would be appreciated. I am working in the same area. Likewise I will forward anything I learn. Max Burton- NY, New York Hello, Max. I'm not sure if I understood your posting, because the question was asked and answered. Perhaps what the answers did not make clear is that copper plating on aluminum is not a research issue but a mature, decades-old, fully commercialized process. So...if you have specific questions about your individual situation, please post them. If you want to have aluminum parts plated, please see our Jobshops Directory or post your needs. If you want to install technology to do copper plating on aluminum, see our Consultants Directory. Good luck! Regards, Ted Mooney, P.E. Striving to live Aloha finishing.com - Pine Beach, New Jersey |
