Silica removal from raw water
Did anybody hear about the possibility of removing Silica from raw river water by the dosing of ferric? raw water conc. is between 20 and 80 mg/l. Would be nice to have some info about that.
Thanks in advance,

Although silica can be removed by adsorption on an iron floc, the efficiency is low. The preferred method for silica removal would be hot process lime-zeolite softening. You would be able to reduce your silica level to ~1-2 ppm.

Normally Silica tends to get suspended in water at an elevated pH of 10.6 and above at 35 °C.
A burnt Dolomite (20% of MgO and 40% CaO) will fix the Silica completely.
Try it out.
