FEDERAL OR MILITARY SPECIFICATION FOR NICKEL PLATING

Hello Folks,

I know from FED-QQN-290 (replaced by AMSQQN290) A (Federal Specification for electrodeposition of nickel) the minimum nickel thickness required for steels, zinc and zinc alloys, copper and copper alloys, but there is nothing related to the nickel plating process onto silver metallized ceramic capacitors. Actually, some of our customers require 100 microinches minimum of nickel, and that is what we give them. But, is any Federal or Military Specification to follow for this particular case? Any information will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Reynaldo Arrroyo

Dear Reynaldo,

Some or all of these might help:
MIL-PRF-55681E with a variety of /1, /2 etc, for each type of circuit.
MIL-STD-202
MIL-STD-790
MIL-STD-1285
MIL-C-55681
MIL-HDBK-198
QPL-55681

If your customer will tell you which they are using, these are examples of the part drawings. DSCC-DWG-91019 DSCC-DWG-94006 Without knowing a bit more about the capacitor, these are "generic" answers.

Best regards,
