Laser Scale Removal
What options are there for removing laser scale?
Cal Niemela- Calumet, Michigan
Cal,
Presumed you need to get rid of the laser scale as preparation for (powder)coating, you can use following methods (we planned here in Europe several plants using these methods:
A: mechanical, such as blasting, grinding etc. Done only at lower quantities or if the sheet thickness is over min. 4 mm.
B: chemically (etching/scaling) as a part of the pretreatment-process before the painting. Can be done in dip systems as well as in spraying systems (stop and go and continuous running systems).
