Acid neutralizing solution

I have used muriatic acid this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] on mild steel metal projects in the past to create a rust patina. It seems to work well, However I have yet to find a way to neutralize the attack of the acid on the metal. Pieces have been clear coated and even after a year old they seem to bleed through the clear. Anyone have a neutralizing solution?

You can get rid of the muriatic acid by very thorough rinsing with water. I think your problem is that the muriatic acid damaged the clear coat, and it is wearing out earlier than it should due to the damage. I doubt any of the muriatic acid is still stuck to your part eating it away over a long period of time.
