Electroplating experiment(iron and copper) unsure of how
Hi,
I'm a high school student and am wondering how to do the experiment, I read through topic 96 and am still concerned. What I've got so far is that you need these materials:
1.5v-6v battery
copper(copper piping or wire)
Iron nail
vinegar
⇦in bulk on
eBay
or
Amazon [affil links] (1 cup) w/ a couple of shakes of salt.
The thing I'm concerned about is does the copper or iron nail have to be corroded or dirty? and if so do they have to be cleaned? I'm unsure of this and need help. Do you need to clean it afterwards again?

I guess part of the experiment could be to determine the effects (if any) of different levels of corrosion or dirtiness of the components.
