New Stainless Steel

I have installed a 18gauge stainless steel wall, how do I clean the mill oil finish off. I have tried buffing, but it still looks like it has a film on it.

If you can not remove oil from wall with common detergent products, then I suggest you go back to the manufacturer of the mill oil product you are using in your machining operation and ask them what they suggest or use to clean product off.

The source of the coating on your stainless is probably the shop that put the finish on it. If it were a 2B mill finish there would be no surface contamination at all. If it has a #3 or A #4 polish, it was probably polished by a wet process using a water soluble oil in water as a coolant and lubricant in the polishing ( sanding ) process. Whoever put the final finish on it is the one you should contact about what exactly they did.
