Plating for 250 hours salt spray

Gentlemen & ladies,

I need to find a plating that will withstand 250 Hrs. salt spray test without displaying red rust. The material is 12L14 Steel.

Thanks,

0.0015" of electroless nickel, preferably high phosphorous or boron. You can get by with 0.0010, but you can expect an occasional failure. Make sure that the plater knows up front that it is a leaded steel.

I would suggest .0003" minimum zinc deposit with a high performance trivalent chromate. We achieve this on a production basis on leaded steel with proper cleaning. The zinc alloys, zinc-nickel, tin zinc, zinc iron, and zinc cobalt, will guarantee 250 hours to red corrosion.
