Stains from baked on tape adhesive

I recently have some integral muffler/tailpieces jet-hot coated with a high temp. ceramic coating. They look great, but where there was a parting line between the chrome tips on my exhaust and the ceramic coating. There is some baked residue from a tape adhesive (used to mask off the chrome tips). I am trying to find a solution or chemical to remove the baked on residue than just pure chrome polish and a ton of elbow grease. My fear is I'll ruin my chrome finish if I just polish like crazy trying to remove the stains. Anybody got any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you,
