How do I put a design/pattern on a stainless steel tabletop?

I am trying to put a pattern on a stainless steel table top. The pattern or design I am trying to get is overlapping circles (you may have seen this design on cafe tables or even in stainless steel elevators)...how do I go about getting this design onto the table top? What tools do I use, etc. -- I realize I may have to practice on something else before I try to do this on my first try.

Thanks,

Patterns can be embossed, mechanically polished or acid etched.

Good luck!
