Solenoid armature
Is Zinc Nickel a plating that will have good wear characteristics when used on an armature (plunger) of a solenoid? The life expectancy is around 1mm cycles, and the bobbin (sleeve) material is nylon 6/6.
Thanks,

What metal has traditionally been used?

Zinc-Nickel electroplate is a good finish for your application, However, I think that electroless nickel using a high phosphorus system (10 +% P) would be better in sea water.
