testing oxide coating by salt spray

We want to test a carbon steel (sae 1060) with a thin film of oxide formed by high temperature (250C-350C). Is it possible to use the salt spray test ?

If you are considering this treatment to be a corrosion-inhibiting one, and you'd like to see how it stacks up against black oxide, nitriding, painting, and plating, sure, do some salt spray testing. But I'd be surprised if it lasts more than a few hours unless you've really discovered something.

I think you will find www.finishing.com/library/qpq/ interesting.
