Composition listings to identify metals
Is there anywhere where I can find info on how to identify a metal by the measurement of each element involved e.g. a list of all metals that are 4%Cr, etc. for each element/metal? Any help with finding some info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

It is not that simple since all alloys have a range or a min or a max for the components. You may be able to find a CD that you could search-possibly SAE or ASM or BS or ?, but what number are you going to look for if it is say 17.5 nickel ± 1.0%? Further note that there are numerous variations between specs for simple 18-8 SS. My guess is that you will have to make up your own spread sheet or data base.

www.matls.com is a time tested and well used site. They allow you to search on so many different parameters you input that it truly does cover almost 99% of everyday use needs.
