Ball-and-Socket Mechanisms
Hi, my question is the following. I am working on a new mechanical product in which I am planning to use several ball-and-socket joints. I wonder whether there are any ball-and-socket joints which can support moments, i.e., is it possible to lock the joint at any desired position in case of a moment?

Visit your local photo shop and look at the top of cheap tripods. They have locking ball and socket mechanisms.

I am also looking for lockable ball and socket joints that will support moment. Exactly of the sort that connect cameras to tripods, but much larger, say something capable of supporting a 100 pound load on a 3 foot arm.
