NIMONIC STEELS

I WANT TO KNOW WHETHER NIMONIC STEELS ARE BEING USED FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF"OVERLOAD" BITS INWATER DRILLING MACHINES. IF SO WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OVER THE LOW ALLOY NI-CR STEELS.

THANKS AND REGARDS,

Sreenivasan Seshadri

Hi Sreenivasan,

May I suggest you go Special Metals USA or the UK and ask them your question. By the way, NIMONICS are NOT steels but ultra high grade NiCr alloys used mainly for high temperature applications\ (jet engine turbines) with lower grades used for making electrical resistance wiring. One last point, they CANNOT be drilled using conventional technology ... only by sacrificial drilling.
