Nickel free silver plating for jewelry

1998

I am a jewelry manufacturer and electroplater and am facing problems with nickel free silver plating.

I hv already tried white bronze as a base plating before silver plating but haven't been successful with controlling the tarnishing and palladium plating before silver plating turns up to be too expensive.

Hi Mandeep,

With reference to your father's visit in Holland a few weeks ago, I hope that the Degussa company came up with the solution for the problem you are facing.

Bye,

Another possibility is a bright cobalt deposit.

In a related letter, Ken Lemke stated that cobalt might have the same problems as nickel in causing allergic reactions.

Tom,

a medical test (patch test) in Germany showed that cobalt gives not the same reaction as nickel.

One reason can be that normally you have more contact to nickel than to cobalt. So perhaps it is only an alternative for nickel for the next years.

There are some shops in Germany using cobalt as a substitute for nickel.
