Chlorinated water pump

What metals would be best suited for a centrifugal pump handling chlorinated swimming pool water. Would Alloy 20 be good?

Ralf G. Toennies

Ralf,

Whereas Alloy 20 might well work, why in the heck would you want to use an expensive pump material?

What about asking the swimming pool Companies what THEY use and prefer ... after all, the chlorine in a pool is terribly dilute.

For longevity I'd choose CPVC ... but maybe the mag drive PP pumps would be suitable.

Food for thought ... possibly ABS would be OK but I'm unsure if they make proper centrifugal pumps from that material but do make, I believe, ABS sump pumps.

Cheers!
