Degreasing agent for cleaning oiled plate

In the galvanization of rolled plates the first step is the degreasing of the plate from the oil. I ask about the degreasing agent used for this job and also their percentage.

With my thanks,

Azim Alshohaib

Mr. Alshohaib, questions like yours may be best answered by getting hold of trade journals from about 20 years ago. That's because in the U.S.A. and many other countries we have moved on to the point where virtually all cleaning solutions are proprietary these days and the only people who REALLY know the answers to your questions are not allowed to answer them because it's the basis of their business. But if you can't get your hands on those old journals, some basic info about the amount of caustic soda ⇦liquid caustic soda in bulk on Amazon [affil link] , phosphates, soda ash, and detergents is in the Metal Finishing Guidebook.

There is an excellent chapter on cleaning solutions in the very inexpensive "Electroplating Course Manual - Basic Practical Electroplating" published by the Garden State Branch AESF.
