Tape for ASTM D3359 cross-hatch adhesion testing
Q. Dear Sir,
We would like to adopt ASTM D3359 test method for in-house quality checking. Can we use Scotch tape 600 to carry out this test? Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,

A. You can use scotch tape to give you a rough idea of how good the adhesion is. However, to do the test right, you should buy some pressure-sensitive tape. I believe this specification suggests a few types. If you can't find this information in the spec, try contacting a tape manufacturer like 3M.
