Can't find Versene "T"
Q. Hi everyone. I have a problem finding Versene "T". Even Dow Chemicals doesn't know what that Versene is. It is from an old formulation for high throw (1 mil/hr) electroless copper plating bath. Can you help me find it or replace it.

A. Versene is EDTA. It is a commercial name. I do not know what the T stands for but there are a lot of chemicals in this family. Degussa manufactures EDTA by the name of Trilon, they may help you in finding out what the T stands for. Sara

A. I think the Hampton Chemical Co. in Nashua, NH used to produce this product. I do not know if they are still in business or were bought out by someone else.

Q. Not so much a contribution as another question - I'm trying to find out which of the many possible EDTA salts Versene 220 is.
Anyone have any ideas?

So it may be just diamino-ethane tetra-acetic acid ⇦this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , disodium salt, (but it still could be a mixture). Have you tried searching for Versene in a search engine?

A. Versene 220 is same as Hampene 220 : 99%+ tetrasodium salt of EDTA.

Q. I would like to know will sequestering agents such has Versene help in avoid iron contamination in nickel plating baths. This is being a serious problem.

A. I am just replying to a question. I found reference to this material in Modern Electroplating by Lowenheim →
Versene-T is sodium salt of ethylenediamene-tetraacetic acid . EDTA.
Abner Brenner used this in Electroless Copper as a preliminary solution for non-conductive substrates.
