Silver coating of atomic force microscopy (AFM) tips
I received your address from an electrochem grad student I know. He thought you might be able to offer some "newsgroup style" advice.
I need to apply a thin (1-2 um) silver coating to atomic force microscopy (AFM) tips. AFM tips are made of Si3N4. If I were to gold coat the tips first, I'm afraid electrodeposition would give me too thick a coating of silver. I'm (somewhat) familiar with sputter coating gold onto thiol derivatized tips, so I thought I could just change over to a silver target. Any suggestions?

Leon,
Silver sputtering should work. Silver targets are available I purchased one for a Polaron sputterer several years ago (can't remember the supplier but it was the same Co. we got our Au or Au-Pd targets from).
