Gold vs. Platinum for ORP (Redox) probes

I have read that Gold ORP / redox probes are suggested for cyanide treatment systems, and Platinum probes for chromate treatment systems -- or maybe it was exactly the reverse, I can't remember or find a handy reference :-)

But some years of experience suggest that both types of probe have satisfactorily been employed in both types of treatment systems. My question is, does anyone here think there is actually a substantial difference in performance, longevity, or whatever, to dictate specifying the different probe materials? Thanks!

I am doing some research on which probe is more suitable in what circumstances. We are using Platinum probes right now, but due to its lack of responsiveness, I am trying diamonds right now. I am using these probes on ferric chloride this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] . Does anyone have idea about which probe will serve better for ferric chloridethis on eBay or Amazon [affil links] contents? Thanks
