GUESTBOOK, Class of 1966

Nov. 17, 2001

I am one of 7 Duffy children who attended OLAS. My father, John F. Duffy also attended OLAS (Deputy Chief of the E.O. Fire Dept.). We have many movies of all of our Communions, Confirmations, Graduations, etc. that include the school, church, rectory, school yard, etc. My father is still in touch with his 5th grade teacher, Sister Anne Roberta. As a matter of fact, Sister and my parents had lunch at my house in September and we were reminiscing about OLAS!

I went to Scott High School along with about 12 kids from my OLAS class.

We have had high school (10, 20 and 30 year) reunions and it is always nice to catch up with each other.

We used to live at 281 North Maple Avenue. Dennis Kessler, Peter Kurtz and Eddie Feeley were neighbors. We then moved to 80 Roosevelt Avenue and lived a couple of houses away from Bobby Ghirlanda (Ellen was a good friend of mine).

Thanks for taking the time in putting this together. It will surely be a lot of fun for people to connect!

I went to OLAS for 3 years before we moved to Ohio for a year. I would have been the class of 1966. I was involved with the Brownie troop there and have a few photos of myself and some friends that I will send when I get a scanner in a week or 2. I remember the play we put on in Kindergarten and I had to nervously sing "Zippidy Do Dah" with another little boy (whose name escapes me at the moment, but whom I can still see in my mind's eye!) I also remember sitting in 1st grade, trying to pay attention, but the boys seemed to like to keep pulling on my long hair braids. Thats probably why my mother eventually cut my hair. I had to stand in the garbage can a time or two as well for talking and goofing around with the boys in the back of the room. I was tall, so that is where the nuns usually put me. Their mistake! I came back to East Orange for 4th grade, but then I went to Our Lady Help of Christians for the next 3 years. Carl Rosenthal was over there from OLAS and we continued to be good friends for many years. Virginia Gilmore was my best friend. I called her "Dummy" as a sign of affection. I saw her now and then, until she got married and moved on. When I went to EOCH, I met some of the old OLAS gang. I guess once you are a part of a class, you stay a part forever, even though life goes on. Memories are the glue! After I got married and moved to California in the early 70's, I didn't keep in real touch with too many people, now having a family to keep me very busy. I am now a grandmother of 3 and 1 on the way in June. Happily married to the same fellow for more then 27 years. He was in the Navy and we moved all around the country until 1996 when he retired. We went to Las Vegas for a few years. I loved it, but we wanted to be closer to the grandkids, so we are now in No. California. I babysit the kids now! Just like starting all over again.

Hope we can get more people from the class of 66 to write in and send their photos. Those were the "good old days" for sure!

I was pleased to learn of the OLAS website and the contributors thus far bring back many fond memories. I was one of the 3 Fehn kids who attended OLAS. My older sister Patty Ann ('63') and Ann Marie('68')are both doing well and I hope will contribute their bio's to the site.

I am married for 17 years to Patty a teacher in Parsippany.

We have 3 children, Ali 16, Chaz 15, and Kelly 13.I attended CJ Scott HS, Kean University '75', Fordham University '76', Fairleigh Dickinson University '82' and received my doctorate in administration from Columbia University '96'. Presently I am the superintendent of the Fredon Township School District in rural Sussex County.

I, like many of those who attended OLAS have very vivid memories of our early school days. Mrs. McGraths, Kindergarten, Sister Anna Rose (Master Fehn,LOL), Sister Margret Helen, Sister Marie, Sister Charles Michael, Mrs. Campbell and of course SISTER JOHN. I have tremendous respect for each and everyone. The rectory holds another set of great memories.

My family and I reside in Byram Township,Sussex Co.I keep in touch with many of my former classmates, Tom Ghirlanda, Gerry and Gene Voinski,Greg and Keith Prescott,Colleen Duffy, Joey Callibelli, Patty Camisa, Donna DeBello etc...

Please keep me in the loop for any reunion.

Hello to the LeGates crew !

Although I didn't graduate from OLAS I attended through third grade. My mother, Bernice (Newman) Dunbar and her brother Arthur Newman (Classes '42 & '41) both are graduates.

I finished at Columbian and went to Scott until we moved to W. Orange in my senior year, then on to Seton Hall.

I followed my fathers footsteps and spent 28 years with the East Orange Police Department, retiring as a Captain in July 2001. John LeGates and I were partners for years and still keep in touch.

I married (25 yrs) to Maureen McGrath, (an EO girl from EOCHS) with two children (Matt 24 yrs, & Meredith 23). Hello to Frank Fehn and family, Frank I have some old 8mm films of our families on vacation at Ocean Beach, hope everyone is well..and greetings to Coleen Duffy and family, my mom and Coleen's dad went ot OLAS together...

Despite the fact that I stayed in EO longer than most, I lost touch with everyone from the old neighborhood and would love to hear from anyone...

I posted an old kindergarden photo (1957 Mrs. McGrath's class) recently..hope it comes out ok...thats me with the "snappy" bow tie behind the sign....remember I was only 5 then and I had no say...LOL

Although I didn't actually graduate with the class of 66, I attended OLAS from K - 7th grades and went to Our Lady Help of Christians for 8th. I'm testing the waters here to see if anyone is currently reading or writing on this website.

My entire family attended OLAS although my brother, Dan as the oldest was the only one who graduated with his class in 1962. My younger sisters were Donna and Joann and we grew up on 4th Avenue in Newark.

Anyone out there?

Not sure if I would have graduated from class of '65 or '66. I left OLAS in 1963, just before I would've started grade 5. (Moved to Matawan). I would love to hear from anyone who might remember me? Denise D'Adamo?
