Hi everyone - it was great reading about our younger days in EO - it sure was a great place to grow up in. I lived on N. Maple ave. between Springdale Ave. and 4th Ave. We used to go to Ruby's all the time - also the drugstore. My Father was an EO Policeman for 31 years. He sometimes would cross us going to church on Sundays. I was always so proud of him. I remember the summer dances at Columbian. We all had good clean fun. Today, the town is so different. My sister, Diane and I still get a little teary eyed when we go by our house and the Church - I tried to go in one day, but it was locked and then I found out that OLAS was no more. It's funny and sad-all the schools I went to are now closed - Holy Name (til 5th grade), OLAS (graduated 1960) and then EOCH (graduated 1964) all gone, but not forgotten.
I would love to hear from some classmates. Thanks for the memories.
Grace D'Amore
PS - I have that book of post cards, etc. about East Orange. It is great. People don't believe me when I tell them what a great city East Orange was. I know it has changed, but has everything.

Hi Grace - I can't believe it has been about 40 years since I last spoke with you. Can you believe it! I clearly remember your Dad and how proud we all were of him. It was so special to have a Police Officer in your family and I do remember how handsome he was and how we used to giggle when he crossed us! Kids today don't understand how simple and enjoyable our lives were back then. Do you remember Mary Ghirlanda and you and I walking to school some mornings? I was usually the late one!
How about those sodas at Ruby's when you had enough change to get one. Remember their son, Murray? He was a big guy who was really funny. Last but not least can we ever forget the Izzy's on the corner of Grove & Springdale? Memory Lane is a blast. it takes me forever to get my e-mail but I'd love to hear from you. God bless. Peggy S.

I came upon this site totally by accident. I have a schematic of the stores on fourth avenue as well as class pictures, including one of us in 6th grade. Is this site still functioning?

Dear Grace: I have such wonderful memories of our years living in the Ampere Parkway area. Just to let you know, in case you did not, Aunt Ginny is still alive and kicking. She lives in Manasquan now. I will be visiting with her from Sunday, the 20th until Tuesday the 22nd. Unfortunately, I will not be making it to the EOCH reunion on Saturday. If you go, please deliver my best wishes to everyone. Ginger Daire

Hi Grace, I don't know if you remember me but I lived next door to you and your family on North Maple Ave.. I have many great memories of my time in East Orange. I remember you and Diane going crazy over the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and you throwing your engagement ring at your fiancee one night outside my bedroom window and then seeing your Mom franticaly looking for it after you went in the house. I went back to East Orange 2 years ago after my Mom's burial in Bloomfield. I drove down North Maple and it was sad to see what has become of the area but it brought back alot of great memories of the good old days. We are lucky to have lived there during the good days.

I attended OLAS from 1956 to 1960, after graduation I attended CJScott and
graduated in 1964. I recently reconnected with several people that attended both schools as well as MSC. A former OLAS classmate gave me a heads up on this site and I must say I am impressed. Joel and I have been feverishly hunting for our class and graduation pictures, but no luck. If anyone has the photos please, please get them posted. I know mine are somewhere, but my ex probably hid them on me! And how about that "Blue Book" for autographs!
