Electro-polishing specifications for mechanical drawings

2001

Question...? How does a mechanical engineer properly specify electro-polishing finishes on production drawings...? What technical information does the EP vendor need to know from the drawing...?

I have a part that looks like a hand held water cup made with 300 series .035" thick stainless steel sheet that was pressed into a small 4.00" diameter shape. If a mirror finish is required on the outside surface only, how does one technically specify it without just saying "Part to be electro-polished" ....? How does the EP firm and the customer ordering the EP part agree on a common ground, or technique to pass or fail a part that needed a mirror finish...?
