Removing gold soldered on stainless steel
September 17, 2013
Q. Hello, I previously owned a jewelry business and imported items (from Italy) that had gold (mostly 18K) adorned on stainless steel. The gold is soldered. Is there a simple way I can remove the gold from the steel to determine if I have enough to cash in. I was hoping there was a chemical that would dissolve the solder that would make the process easy. Could really use the money and I have lots of these items around.
Would appreciate any and all suggestions please. I am in the Boston MA area of the USA.
