Precautions that should be taken when handling galvanneal coated metal
April 25, 2011
Hi,
We have recently started using galvanneal coated metal in our Die cutting mat building process and we have to roll the metal for it to fit around the molds that we use.
I was wondering if there are any precautions that should be taken when handling the metal as we get a lot of nicks and scrapes on our hands?
thank you for a quick response

Hi, Joe.
I've seen rather similar situations a dozen times on this site, and a half-dozen times as a manufacturing consultant before that. The answer is, and I think you may already know it but are resisting it, the employees need to wear appropriate gloves. Yes, there are reasons they "can't", but a couple of years from now they will anyway, despite all those reasons, so they might as well start now :-)
Ungloved hands are for the versatility of doing a thousand different things; gloved hands are for repetitive work of almost any variety. Good luck.
