Embedded Aluminum that does not Anodize
Our company has an automated sulfuric anodizing line that we primarily do hard coating of 3003 aluminum. The last few months we have been seeing an increase in a "white scratch" appearance in the aluminum after anodizing. As far as we can tell it's embedded aluminum from the mill. We did some research and we were told that since more and more companies are forced to be "Green Friendly" that lubes and coolants that are used in the mills doesn't have the same quality as the old traditional lubes. Thus causing the aluminum to stick to the rollers and get embedded into the aluminum sheet. The only way we have found to remove this is to anodize, strip and re-anodizing. We have tried longer etch and desmut times and even a quick anodize and strip. Anyone else seeing this same issue or have any ideas
